Aloha Diplomacy
A Hawaii community forming around a simple commitment: that civic life requires real participation, real thought, and real presence with each other, not performance on platforms built to extract from us.
Aloha Diplomacy is the Hawaii chapter of a larger project called Sovereign. We are rooted in Molokaʻi, where the founding members first gathered to establish the island’s circle and the statewide foundation. The work now turns to Kalaupapa — and to the next gathering.
The work that follows will not be led by founders. It will be carried by the members of the founding cohort, who — once they have done the work together on Molokaʻi — will extend invitations across the islands. Those who have standing on Maui will carry the work to Maui. Those with relationships on Hawaiʻi Island will extend the work there. Those with ties to Kauaʻi and Oahu will do the same. Aloha Diplomacy grows as a network of island circles, rooted in each place, connected through the founding cohort and the disciplines they share.
We are not building another social app. We are building something older and more serious: a community that meets in person, thinks together under shared disciplines, and contributes to public life through careful work rather than reactive expression.
Members practice seven questions for evaluating claims, seven deeper questions for knowing themselves, and the work of embodied gathering with people whose perspectives differ from their own. Travel, when it comes, is earned through sustained participation, not purchased through subscription.
We are honest about what we have and what we do not. The platform is a beginning, not a finished product. The hardware we believe is needed does not yet exist. What exists is a small community of people willing to do the work that larger institutions have failed to do.
